From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English747747 /ˌsevən fɔː ˈsevən $ -fɔːr-/ noun [countable]  a large passenger plane made by the US Boeing Corporation. The 747 was the first jumbo jet and it can carry over 400 passengers. These planes are used all over the world, especially for long-distance flights.
