(1888-1962), a Hungarian-born film director who had a long and successful career in Hollywood. He won an Oscar for best director in 1943 for Casablanca. His other films included The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936), Angels With Dirty Faces (1938), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) and White Christmas (1954).
