in the Old Testament of the Bible, a man who led the Jews to the "Promised Land" of Canaan. When Joshua and his army attacked the city of Jericho they blew their trumpets so loudly that the walls of the city fell down and they were able to take control of it. The Book of Joshua describes how the Jews took control of Canaan.
