Little Miss Muffet
a character from a nursery rhyme (=an old song or poem for young children). She is a young girl who is frightened by a spider and runs away. The rhyme goes: Little Miss Muffet/Sat on a tuffet,/Eating her curds and whey;/There came a great spider,/Who sat down beside her,/And frightened Miss Muffet away.
