(1910-97) an Albanian Roman Catholic nun (=a member of a group of Christian religious women) who lived in India, where she worked to help the poor and the sick in the city of Calcutta. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, and people think of her as a typical example of someone who is very kind, unselfish, and morally good.
