Provence
an area in southeast France which includes the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and the hills and mountains away from the coast. It produces wine, fruit, olive oil and lavender (=a strong-smelling purple flower). Its beaches, beautiful countryside, and warm weather make it a popular place for tourists to visit. Its main towns are Nice and Marseilles.
