the ancient Egyptian pyramids, which were built to contain the bodies and possessions of the dead pharaohs (=kings of ancient Egypt). The most famous of these are the three pyramids at El Giza, near Cairo, which include theGreat Pyramid and which are one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
