a novel (1958) by British writer Alan Sillitoe, about a young man, Arthur Seaton, who works in a factory. On Saturday nights he goes out, drinking a lot in pubs and has an affair with the wife of one of his friends. He was considered an example of the Angry Young Man of that time.
