(1809-92) often called by his title, Alfred, Lord Tennyson; an English poet who was made poet laureate (=the queen's official poet). His works include In Memoriam, a poem written for a friend of his who died, but he is best known for hisnarrative poems (=poems that tell a story), such as Charge of the Light Brigade and The Lady of Shalott.
