Welles, Orson
(1915-85) a US actor, film director, producer, and writer, famous especially for the film Citizen Kane (1941), which many people consider to be one of the greatest films ever made, and for his radio play The War of the Worlds, which in 1938 made thousands of people in the US believe that the Earth was really being attacked by creatures from Mars. Other films include The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) and The Third Man (1949).
