From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishAjaxA‧jax /ˈeɪdʒæks/ trademark  in ancient Greek mythology, a warrior in Agamemnon's army who appears in Homer's Iliad. He carried a large shield and was known for being very brave, especially in two fights against Hector.
