From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishPushkin, AleksandrAleksandr PushkinPush‧kin, Al‧ek‧san‧dr /ˈpʊʃkɪn, ˌælɪɡˈzɑːndə $ -ˈzændər/  (1799–1837) one of Russia's greatest writers who wrote novels, plays, and poetry, and greatly influenced the development of Russian literature. His best-known works are Eugene Onegin and Boris Godunov.
