From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishHill, AnitaAnita HillHill, A‧ni‧ta /əˈniːtə/  (1956–) an American lawyer and teacher of law. When the Senate was deciding whether Clarence Thomas should become a justice on the US Supreme Court, she told the Senate that when she was working for Thomas he had tried to start a sexual relationship with her even though she did not want to. Thomas said that this was not true, and after a lot of discussion, the Senate agreed to allow Thomas to become a Supreme Court Justice.
