From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishAttilaAt‧til‧a /əˈtɪlə/ (also Attila the Hun)  (?406–453 AD) a king of the Huns (=an ancient people from Asia) who attacked and took control of large parts of the roman empire. He is famous for being violent and cruel.
