Australian Rules football

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishAustralian Rules footballAusˌtralian ˌRules ˈfootball noun [uncountable]  a game played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field with an oval ball which is passed by kicking or striking with the hand, the aim being to get points by putting the ball between a set of four posts at either end of the field. The informal name for the game is Aussie Rules.
