From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishBarnardo'sBar‧nar‧do's /bəˈnɑːdəʊz $ bərˈnɑːr-/ trademark  a British organization whose aim is to help children and young people who do not have any parents or whose parents are unable to take care of them. In the past, Barnardo's used to have special homes for these children to live in. It now has centres that help young people with social problems, such as being homeless or having been physically or sexually attacked by an adult living in their home.
