From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishButlinsBut‧lins /ˈbʌtlənz/ trademark  a group of holiday camps in various seaside towns in the UK. They were started by Sir Billy Butlin (1899–1980) with the aim of providing inexpensive holidays for ordinary working people, and they were especially popular in the 1950s and 1960s.
