McCullers, Carson

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishMcCullers, CarsonCarson McCullersMc‧Cul‧lers, Carson /məˈkʌləz $ -lərz/  (1917–67) a US writer whose best-known novels include The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and Reflections in a Golden Eye, both of which have been made into films. Her best-known short stories are included in the collection The Ballad of the Sad Café. She often wrote about loneliness, and many of her characters are people who do not fit into ordinary society.
