From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary Englishchuggerchug‧ger /ˈtʃʌɡə $ -ər/ noun [countable] British English informal  someone who is paid to stop people in the street and persuade them to give money regularly to a charity. The word comes from combining the words charity and mugger.
