From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishRice, CondoleezzaCondoleezza RiceRice, Con‧do‧leez‧za /ˌkɒndəˈliːsə $ ˌkɑːn-/  (1954-) a Republican politician who was US Secretary of State (2005-2009) during the time when George W. Bush was president. Before becoming a politician she was a professor of Political Science at Stanford University. She gave up her university job to become national security advisor (2001-2005).
