From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishCourt of St James, thethe Court of St JamesˌCourt of St ˈJames, the  one of the old names of the official home of the British king or queen. Formally, an ambassador (=the official representative of a country) who is sent to the UK from a foreign country is called the ‘Ambassador to the Court of St James’.
