From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary Englishdermabrasionder‧ma‧bra‧sion /ˌdɜːməˈbreɪʒən $ ˌdɜːr-/ noun [countable, uncountable] medical  a type of surgery that removes the top layers of someone’s skin in order to make the skin below look smoother and to make new skin healthier. This is often done to repair scars caused by an accident or by previous surgery.
