From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishDesdemonaDes‧de‧mo‧na /ˌdezdəˈməʊnə/  the main female character in the play othello by William shakespeare. She is Othello's wife, and Othello kills her because his enemy, Iago, makes him believe that she is having a sexual relationship with another man, although she is not.
