From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishBurne-Jones, EdwardEdward Burne-JonesBurne-Jones, Edward /ˌbɜːn ˈdʒəʊnz $ ˌbɜːrn-/ 🔊 🔊 (1833–98) a British painter who was one of the pre-raphaelites. He often painted women with pale skin and long red hair. He also worked in tapestry (=heavy cloth with pictures woven into them) and stained glass.
