From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishCaruso, EnricoEnrico CarusoCa‧ru‧so, En‧ri‧co /kəˈruːsəʊ, enˈriːkəʊ/  (1873–1921) an Italian opera singer, considered to be one of the greatest tenors of the 20th century. He was one of the first opera singers to make records, and this made him famous throughout the world.
