Equal Pay Act, the

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishEqual Pay Act, thethe Equal Pay ActˌEqual ˈPay Act, the  a law in the UK, passed in 1970, which says that men and women should get equal pay for doing the same work, and should have the same conditions of employment. It can be difficult to prove that someone is being paid unfairly, and women still usually earn less than men.
