Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishFederal Republic of Yugoslavia, thethe Federal Republic of YugoslaviaˌFederal Reˌpublic of Yugoˈslavia, the (also the FRY, the Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro))  the former name of a country in Eastern Europe, between Romania and Bosnia-Herzegovina, that included part of the former country of Yugoslavia, and was involved in the Bosnian War in the 1990s. It became a country in 1992, and its population is mainly Serbian. In 2003 it changed its name to Serbia and Montenegro. in 2006 Montenegro left the federation.
