From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishHoraceHor‧ace /ˈhɒrɪs $ ˈhɔː-/  (65–8 BC) a Roman poet and writer of satire (=literature making fun of stupid or evil people), whose work greatly influenced English poetry. His full Latin name was Quintus Horatius Flaccus.
