From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishHundred Years War, thethe Hundred Years WarˌHundred ˌYears ˈWar, the  a series of wars between England and France from 1337–1453, when the English kings tried to keep control of land which they ruled in France. The French finally won, and forced the English to leave France.
