From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishIron Lady, thethe Iron LadyˌIron ˈLady, the  a name that was formerly used, especially in newspapers, for Margaret thatcher when she was the British prime minister. She was called this because she was seen as a strong leader who did not change her mind easily.
