Janet and John

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishJanet and JohnJan‧et and John /ˌdʒænət ənd ˈdʒɒn $ -ˈdʒɑːn/  a boy and girl who are the main characters in simple British books used for teaching children to read, which were popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Similar stories are sometimes described as ‘Janet and John books’.
