Kerry, John

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishKerry, JohnJohn KerryKer‧ry, John /ˈkeri/  (1943-) an American politician who became the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in 2009 and United States Senator from Massachusetts in 1985. He is most well-known for being the candidate of the Democratic Party in the 2004 US election which he lost to George W. Bush. He won medals for his bravery in the Vietnam War. Later he worked as an Assistant District Attorney before becoming a senator.
