John o’ Groats

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishJohn o’ GroatsJohn o’ Groats /ˌdʒɒn ə ˈɡrəʊts $ ˌdʒɑːn ə ˈɡroʊts/ 🔊 🔊 a place in northeast Scotland that is thought of as the most northern part of the UK, although in fact it is not. It is used especially in the phrase ‘from John oGroats to Land’s End’, Land’s End being thought of as the furthest point in the southwest of the UK.
