From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishRipken, Jr., CalJr., Cal RipkenRip‧ken, Jr., Cal /ˈrɪpkən ˈdʒuːniə, kæl $ -niər/  (1960–) a former US baseball player for the Baltimore Orioles team. He played 2362 games one after the other which is a record, and he is considered to be one of the best shortstops in baseball history.
