From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishLMSLMS /ˌel em ˈes/ noun [uncountable]  (local management of schools) in Northern Ireland, a system by which schools are given the responsibility for deciding how the money they receive from the government will be spent. Formerly a school's local education authority was responsible for its financial management.
