Haw-Haw, Lord

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishHaw-Haw, LordLord Haw-HawHaw-Haw, Lord   see Lord Haw-HawLord Haw-HawˌLord ˈHaw-Haw  (1906–49) the name given to William Joyce, an Englishman who broadcast speeches from Germany during World War II in order to support the Nazis. After the war he was taken back to Britain and hanged for being a traitor (=enemy of his country).
