From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishTussaud, MadameMadame TussaudTus‧saud, Madame /təˈsɔːd $ tʊˈsəʊ/ 🔊 🔊 (1760–1850) a Swiss woman who made models of people in wax, including famous people who were killed by the guillotine in the french revolution. In 1802 she established her waxworks, called madame tussaud's, in London.
