Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishMaharishi Mahesh Yogi, thethe Maharishi Mahesh YogiMa‧ha‧rish‧i Ma‧hesh Yo‧gi, the /mɑːhəˌriːʃi ˌmɑːheʃ ˈjəʊɡi/  (1911–2008) an Indian religious leader who, in the 1960s, helped to introduce many Indian religious ideas to people in the West. His teaching includes transcendental meditation (=the practice of repeating special words many times, until you feel very calm), and he has taught many famous people, including The Beatles.
