Manchester City

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishManchester CityˌManchester ˈCity (abbreviation MCFC)  a football club in the English Premier League, which won the FA Cup in 2011. The club has a long history and was started in 1880. They were very successful in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1970. The club is owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who bought it in 2008. He has provided a lot of money for new players such as Carlos Tévez and Yaya Touré. As a result, Manchester City is often claimed to be the richest football club in the world. The club is sometimes called City, The Blues, or The Citizens. Its full name is Manchester City Football Club
