From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishMarseillesMar‧seilles /mɑːˈseɪ, -ˈseɪlz $ mɑːr-/ 🔊 🔊 the second largest city in France, in the south of the country on the Mediterranean coast. It is an important port and industrial centre, and is sometimes thought of in connection with the trade in illegal drugs. Its correct French name is Marseille.
