From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishNavratilova, MartinaMartina NavratilovaNav‧rat‧i‧lo‧va, Mar‧ti‧na /ˌnævrætɪˈləʊvə, mɑːˈtiːnə $ mɑːr-/  (1956–) a US tennis player, born in the former Czechoslovakia, who is regarded as one of the best players ever. She won the women's singles competition at wimbledon nine times, more than any other player, and the us open four times. She is also known for having said publicly that she is a lesbian.
