Raffles Hotel

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishRaffles HotelRaf‧fles Ho‧tel /ˌræfəlz həʊˈtel/ 🔊 🔊 a famous old hotel in Singapore, in a beautiful 19th century building. It is a popular place for wealthy people to stay, and is named after Sir Stamford Raffles, who brought Singapore under British control in 1819.
