Illingworth, Ray

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishIllingworth, RayRay IllingworthIll‧ing‧worth, Ray /ˈɪlɪŋwɜːθ $ -wərθ/  (1932–) a cricketer born in Yorkshire, England, famous as a spin bowler (=bowler in cricket who deliberately makes the ball turn very quickly so that it is difficult for the opponent to hit) during the late 1960s and 1970s. He was captain of the England team from 1969 to 1973.
