Lowell, Robert

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishLowell, RobertRobert LowellLow‧ell, Rob‧ert /ˈləʊəl, ˈrɒbət $ ˈrɑːbərt/  (1917–77) a US poet and writer of plays, who was also known for his concern about social questions and his opposition to the vietnam war. Two of his most famous poems are The Quaker Graveyard in Nantucket and Colloquy in Black Rock.
