From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishSense and SensibilityˌSense and Sensiˈbility  (1811) a book by Jane austen about two sisters, Elinor, who is a very sensible person, and Marianne, who is a very romantic and emotional person, and the difficulties they face in finding suitable husbands. It was made into a successful film in 1995.
