From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishSimple SimonˌSimple ˈSimon noun  a stupid person who believes everything he is told, from the name of a stupid young man in a nursery rhyme (=an old song or poem for young children): Simple Simon met a pieman/Going to the fair;/Says Simple Simon to the pieman/‘Let me taste your ware.’
