Southern belle

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishSouthern belleˌSouthern ˈbelle noun [countable]  an attractive young woman from the South of the US, who comes from an upper-class family. The expression is mostly used when talking about the past, and a typical example of a Southern belle is Scarlet O’Hara, the main character in the book and film Gone with the Wind.
