From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishSpitalfieldsSpit‧al‧fields /ˈspɪtlfiːldz/  a place in East London where there used to be a market selling fruit, vegetables, and flowers. There is now a new market which sells clothes, crafts (=things made skilfully with your hands), furniture, and food.
