Jackson, Stonewall

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishJackson, StonewallStonewall JacksonJackson, Stonewall /ˌstəʊnˈwɔːl/  (1824–63) a US general in the confederate army during the American Civil War, whose real name was Thomas Jackson. He fought at the battle of Bull Run and helped to defeat the Union army, but he died before the end of the war.
