Swan Lake

From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishSwan LakeˌSwan ˈLake  (1877) a ballet with music by tchaikovsky. It tells the story of Prince Siegfried who falls in love with a swan (=a large white bird) which changes into the beautiful Princess Odette. At the end of the ballet, Odette dies of unhappiness and disappears under the water of the lake, and the music from this scene, called ‘The Dying Swan’, is very well-known.
